Problems during Installation using Yum

This article applies to Exalate Classic only. For New Exalate, refer to this documentation. 

Problem

When you try to install Postgres onto Oracle Linux the following error occurs:

Error: No matching Packages to list

Cause

yum fails while installing Postgres onto Oracle Linux according to this guide

yum list postgresql*

Solution

You can download and install the necessary packages from the Postgres RPM repo.
